The Hardware

The NeuroSky MindWave Mobile is an inexpensive research-grade EEG headset. The MindWave measures and outputs the EEG power spectrums (alpha waves, beta waves, etc.), the NeuroSky eSense meters (attention and meditation) and eye blinks.

The Software

These visualizations are built using Processing, a programming language used specifically for the visual arts. Most of the illustration modes are based on sampling and frequency analysis, assigning different shades of colour depending on the pitch, and different behaviours and sizes according to the frequency amplitudes.
