Abstract
SAPIR is a research project focusing on large scale P2P solutions for search in multimedia content. In this report we present the definition of social networking features that might be relevant to the architecture and concept of the SAPIR project. The report defines the concept of social networks and describes various related features and techniques that can be exploited by the SAPIR framework.
We define the concepts of context awareness and social networking data and describe how this information can be collected and used to improve the search experience. We survey existing context sensor tools and social network data repositories. We focus on embedding this information in the user interface and cover different techniques for improving the user experience in searching data.
