Abstract

SAPIR is a research project focusing on large scale P2P solutions for search in multimedia content. In this report we present the definition of social networking features that might be relevant to the architecture and concept of the SAPIR project. The report defines the concept of social netw orks and describes various related features and techniques that can be exploited by the SAPIR framew ork.

We will define the concepts of context aw areness and social netw orking data and describe how this information will be collected and used to improve the search experience. We will survey existing context sensor tools and Social network data repositories to focus strictly on embedding this information in the user experience and work on different techniques and heuristics for improving search user experience with this data.
