Abstract
This deliverable presents the first version of the multimedia ontologies developed within the BOEMIE project. More specifically, two ontologies have been currently implemented, namely the Multimedia Content Ontology (MCO) and the Multimedia Descriptor Ontology (MDO). The former addresses structural aspects of multimedia content, while the latter considers multimedia descriptors necessary for carrying out content analysis. The deliverable starts with a state of the art report on multimedia ontology related literature. In the following, the multimedia ontologies intended context of usage within the BOEMIE project is specified and the details of the ontologies implementation are presented. The deliverable concludes with future directions and open issues.
