iPRES2010 will adopt a two-track scheme, focussing on research papers reporting on novel, previously unpublished work, as well as case studies and best practice reports.
The conference programme will be designed in such as way as to encourage interaction between these areas, rather than seeing them as seperated fields.
Furthermore, iPRES2010 will offer a set of tutorials on the Sunday preceding the conference, as well as focussed workshops to be organized following the main conference.
A selection of the outstanding papers from the iPRES2010 conference will be invited for submission to the International Journal of Digital Curation, a leading peer-reviewed journal of digital curation and preservation.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to
iPRES2010 invites the submission of full research papers (no extended abstracts) reporting on novel, previously unpublished research work. In case of concurrent duplicate submissions, authors are requested to specify this fact in an addendum to the paper.
All papers will be reviewed by 3 members of the scientific programme committee, and will be evaluated with respect to the solidity of the research work presented and its novelty.
All papers accepted for inclusion in the iPRES programme will appear in the iPRES2010 proceedings in the section of the full paper track, and will be selected for oral or poster presentation according to the evaluation by the programme committe. (If authors prefer to give a poster rather than an oral presentation, or vice versa, or refuse one of the two presentations types, we encourage authors to specify this on a seperate page as an addendum to their submission.)
Submissions to iPRES 2010 will be handled in electronic format via the iPRES2010 electronic submission system. Templates for LaTeX and MS Word are available in the Information for Authors section of the iPRES2010 Homepage.
In addition to the Full Paper track, iPRES 2010 also invites submissions of late-breaking results focussing on case studies, experience reports, as well as highlighting issues and challenges identified in the operation of digital preservation systems, or novel aspects of digital preservation in an earlier stage of research.
Submissions to the Late-breaking Results track should consist of extended abstracts of 2-4 pages length to be evaluated by members of the programme committee.
Authors of accepted contributions will then be asked to provide final versions of their papers of up to 6 pages in length for long papers, 4 pages in length for short papers, and will be selected for oral or poster presentation according to the evaluation by the programme committe. (If authors prefer to give a poster rather than an oral presentation, or vice versa, or refuse one of the two presentations types, we encourage authors to specify this on a seperate page as an addendum to their submission.) All contributions will be included in the late-breaking results section of the iPRES2010 conference proceedings.

iPRES2010 is planning to host a small number of highly focussed panel discussions. Panels should be lively, controversial, and provoke discussion on a specific topic of interest to the community. Panel sessions should not consist of paper presentations, but should have plenty of discussion engaging the audience.
Submissions to iPRES 2010 will be handled in electronic format via the iPRES2010 electronic submission system and should consist of a 2-3 page abstract including:
The first day of the conference will consist of a parallel session of half-day or full-day tutorials each concentrating on a single topic presented either at an introductory level or an in-depth expert level, lasting about 3 hours (including a break) per half-day.
