CHINA, RUSSIA TO COOPERATE IN NATIONAL ANTI-MISSILE DEFENCE BEIJING, MARCH 14, 2001 /RIA NOVOSTI'S ALEXANDER ISAEV/ -- Sha Zukang, the Chinese foreign ministry's arms control chief, announced continuing cooperation in national anti-missile defence with Russia, welcomed the USA's recent statement on being prepared to negotiate the issue with various countries, including China and Russia. Sound and honest dialogue could enhance mutual understanding and abate the discrepancy between the two sides, he said. Sha Zukang noted China's commitment to an independent foreign policy without blocking together with any other country. Considering this condition, China will hold consultations and maintain contacts with all countries concerned on the anti-missile defence problem, concluded Sha Zukang.
