SPEAKER: SENATORS WILL APPROVE LAW ON AMENDING THE BUDGET-2001 MOSCOW, March 14, 2001. /RIA Novosti correspondent/. Yegor Stroyev, Speaker of the Federation Council, upper house of the Russian parliament, is sure that the Federation Council will approve the law on amending the budget-2001 at its session on Wednesday. According to Mr Stroyev, the need to adopt the law was caused by the fact that this year Russia should redeem all her foreign debts to international financial institutions. Mr Stroyev told journalists before the session's beginning that the senators "still haven't got any reason to deny the law." According to the speaker, he was discussing the problem of the budget-2001 accumulation with Alexei Kudrin, vice-premier and finance minister of Russia, in the course of an hour and a half on Tuesday. Mr Stroyev noted that the budget accumulation proceeds with a certain surplus which is enough for both implementing social programmes in Russia and settling foreign debts.
