RUSSIA STUDIES TEHERAN PROPOSALS ON CASPIAN SEA MOSCOW, March 14, 2001 /RIA Novosti correspondent/--In conclusion of Kremlin negotiations with Iranian President Mohammad Khatami Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov announced that the Russian side was considering Teheran's proposals on the Caspian Sea and intended to debate them with the other pre-Caspian states. The minister noted that "complex negotiations on the status of the Caspian Sea are underway" now. According to him, there are numerous approaches to the problem. The Foreign Minister recalled that the day before the Iranian side voiced a number of addenda to proposals on the Caspian Sea status. However, Ivanov did not find it necessary to detail them with due account of "that complicated stage in the process of negotiations."
