IRANIAN PRESIDENT: VISIT TO RUSSIA ENRICHED GOOD RELATIONS BETWEEN RUSSIA AND IRAN MOSCOW, March 14, 2001. /From RIA Novosti correspondent/. Addressing Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov during a meeting in the Kremlin, Iranian President Mohammad Khatami said he was convinced that his visit to Russia had "enriched and given a new incentive" to "good relations between Russia and Iran." According to Khatami, his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin was especially "reassuring and helped disclose new favourable prospects for our future relations." On his part, Ivanov expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the Iranian president's state visit to Russia, and added that his Tuesday discussion of major international problems with his Iranian counterpart Kamal Kharazi proved Moscow and Tehran's positions were generally identical. Also, Kharazi and himself had discussed the schedule of future contacts between the sides, Ivanov reported. As the meeting drew to a close, the Iranian president thanked the Russian side for "the warm welcome" accorded to him by the Russian leaders and the people.
