ANOTHER CHECHEN 'WARLORD' DETAINED IN DAGESTAN MAKHACHKALA, March 13. /Dekabr Beibutov, RIA Novosti Correspondent/. Dagestani law enforcement agents on Monday detained Samurali Dibirov, 34, resident of Nozhai-Yurt District, Chechnya, who had been wanted by federal authorities since 1994, Police Colonel Magomed Ismailov, Dagestan coordinator with the Federal Criminal Police Committee, told a news conference in Makhachkala. According to him, the man is a leader of one of the bandit groups and was even once declared "Hero of Ichkeria". In addition to having done battle with federal forces, he is suspected of having committed a series of kidnapping-related crimes. Dibirov has been found to have had a role in kidnapping 5 Dagestani residents. He is also the major suspect in fifteen other kidnapping cases. Federal authorities wanted him for crimes he committed in the Kamchatka Region in 1994. The gunman was detained at the Russian-Azeri border, which he was attempting to cross using a false identity.
