CHECHEN LEADER BRINGS LIBEL SUIT AS PRESS ACCUSES HIM OF SLAVE TRAFFIC GUDERMES, MARCH 12, RIA NOVOSTI - Ahmad Kadyrov, Chechen republican administration head, brought a million rouble libel suit against the Moscow-based Novaya Gazeta. He also demands its calumny officially denied, announced Taus Jabrailov, his press spokesman. The suit was brought to one of Moscow's municipal courts. In the February 19 issue, Novaya Gazeta writer Andrei Belykh accused Kadyrov of involvement in slave traffic, and his clan of monopolising oil product transportation. The contribution insults Ahmad Kadyrov's honour and dignity, and has to be retaliated in lawcourt, said Taus Jabrailov.
