RUSSIAN DEFENSE SYSTEMS TO BE DELIVERED TO IRAN








MOSCOW, March 12, RIA Novosti - When speaking Monday at a news briefing, Colonel-General Leonid Ivashov, chief of the international military cooperation department at the Russian Defense Ministry, said in reply to a question on possible deliveries to Iran of Russian offensive weapons that military technological cooperation of Russia and Iran provided first of all for the "delivery of Russian defensive systems, to satisfy the needs of the Iranian armed forces". "And then we'll see," he added.


	According to Ivashov, "Russia and Iran are sovereign states cooperating in the military technological sphere without violating any international agreements and contracts or failing to meet their own obligations". The general said that whatever the attitude of other states to Russian-Iranian military technological cooperation, "our countries will continue to fruitfully cooperate in the area".
