US ADMINISTRATION ACTS AS SUPREME JUDGE WITH REGARD TO RUSSIA MOSCOW, MARCH 11, 2001 /RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT ALEKSANDER SHISHLO/. The US administration has assumed the role of "the supreme judge" with regard to Russia and some incumbent officials. Acting State Secretary of Russia-Belarus Union state Igor Selivanov told this to journalists on Sunday. In his opinion, it is evident that the new US administration is eager to teach Russia and other countries a lesson - something that never happened under the previous administration. Selivanov noted that the Borodin case had a considerable political constituent. It is still unclear how long the process will last, but it largely hampers the activities of the Standing Committee of the union state, which is a working body of the union state's Cabinet and is headed by Borodin, pointed out Selivanov. In an answer to the question as to whether or not the Standing Committee looked into the channels through which Borodin received the invitation to the US President's inauguration, Igor Selivanov said that it was construed exactly as an invitation to the State Secretary. Pavel Borodin was apprehended in New York on January 18 at the behest of Swiss authorities, who are charging him with violating Swiss laws. At present the high-profile official is awaiting extradition in the Brooklyn detention centre.
