THREE CHECHEN BANDITS ARRESTED IN DAGHESTAN MAKHACHKALA, March 11, 2001. /From RIA Novosti correspondent Dekabr Beibutov/. Three Chechens attempting to hide in neighbouring Azerbaijan have been arrested in Daghestan. They are accused of involvement in illegal armed formations operating in Chechnya. /Daghestan is an RF constituent republic bordering on Chechnya/. Spokesmen for the regional department of the Russian federal borderguard service have reported that two of the arrested people attempted to illegally cross the border. All the three detained militants have fragmentation wounds. According to Russian law enforcers, the wounds proved the arrested people's involvement in combat operations and were the reason for the arrest.
