SECOND STAGE OF THE "MUJAHEDIN" OPERATION STARTS IN KARACHAI-CIRCASSIA CHERKESSK, March 10, 2001. /RIA Novosti correspondent Valery Oliyanchuk/ -- The second stage of the "Mujahedin" operation has started in Karachai-Circassia, a North Caucasus republic of the Russian Federation. As the RIA Novosti correspondent reports, the aim of this operation is to search for and detain members of illegal armed units on Chechen territory and also other criminals, as well as to prevent illegal actions. Deputy Interior Minister of Karachai-Circassia Colonel Boris Erkenov has told the RIA Novosti correspondent that the second stage would be prolonged, just as the February one, by ten days. In the course of the first stage, six inhabitants of the republic were detained.
