GOOD JOB MORE IMPORTANT THAN HAPPY MARRIAGE MOSCOW, MARCH 7, RIA NOVOSTI. Russians consider a good job or professional success to be more important for their daughters than a happy marriage, show findings of a poll conducted by the Public Opinion Fund. In 2001, this view was shared by nearly twice as many respondents as 6 years ago /64 and 36 per cent, respectively/. A good marriage was considered more important by 27 per cent of those interviewed now and 48 per cent in 1995. According to a Public Opinion poll on a different subject, 80 per cent of the Russians believe that members of the "weaker sex" should retire on pension earlier than men. Both males and females think alike here. Sex equality in this issue is upheld only by 15 per cent of those polled. Besides, 56 per cent of the Russians think that women should play a more active role in politics.
