STATE DUMA WORRIED ABOUT NON-FERROUS METALS THEFTS MOSCOW, MARCH 7, 2001, /RIA-NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT PAVEL SHEVTSOV/ -- The Russian Federation's State Duma has ordered its energy, transport and communications committee to compile a report dealing with damage being inflicted on national power-transmission and communications networks as a result of all-out non-ferrous metals thefts. This resolution was passed here today during the lower parliament house's plenary session on the initiative of CPRF (Communist Party of the Russian Federation)-faction member Victor Zorkaltsev. Besides, the State Duma's members would like the afore-said committee to estimate the amount of appropriations being required to restore specific facilities and networks.
