MOSCOW GETTING READY FOR TALKS WITH WTO MOSCOW, MARCH 6, 2001 /FROM RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT ALEKSANDER IVASHCHENKO/ -- Russia is planning to launch official negotiations with the WTO member-states on the access to the Russian service market. According to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, these issues were prominent at the recent informal consultations in Geneva last week between the Russian delegates and the working group on Russia's accession to the WTO. In mid-February Moscow forwarded a new package of proposals on the conditions of the access to the service market. The new proposals specifically outline the conditions of access to Russian markets of financial services and services in the sphere of ensurance. According to the Ministry's spokesman, WTO partners assessed the proposals as a good basis for launching official talks.
