UNITY FACTION LEADER SERGEI GRYZLOV ABOUT THE STATE DUMA BERLIN, MARCH 5, 2001. /RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT ALEXANDER GULYAKOVSKI/. The pro-Kremlin Unity faction of the Russian parliament is discussing various future scenarios, the dissolution of the State Duma (the lower chamber of parliament) included, said Unity Faction leader Boris Gryzlov in his interview with RIA Novosti. The faction is not afraid of the possible dissolution of parliament, as in this case the Unity will win even more votes at the new election than at the previous one. Moreover, the faction will subsequently consolidate its position in the lower chamber of parliament, said Mr Gryzlov. The Unity will define its position as regards the Communist faction's intention to put the vote of no confidence in the Cabinet on the agenda of Tuesday's /March 6/ Duma session, said Mr Gryzlov. In Mr Gryzlov's view, the Russian Communists do not face up to reality, as they are likely to lose some deputy mandates during the election. He believes the State Duma worked constructively during the year, with all necessary decisions having been implemented by the Unity faction, added Mr Gryzlov.
