PACE DELEGATION TO VISIT KAZAKHSTAN PARIS, MARCH 5, 2001 /FROM RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT LEONID KOKOVICH/ -- A PACE /Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe/ delegation is to arrive in Kazakhstan for a routine visit on March 5-7. The visit will be paid in the framework of preparing an official report of the PACE commission on political affairs on the Kazakh parliament's request to obtain the status of an official observer in the PACE and the CE /Council of Europe/. The delegation headed by Polish MP Tadeusz Iwinski will visit Alma-Ata and Astana. The agenda of the visit includes meetings with speaker of the lower and upper parliamentary houses of Kazakhstan, the Foreign Minister and leaders of various political parties. Kazakhstan's request to obtain an observer's status in the PACE and the CE was submitted in January 2000 to the CE leadership in Strasbourg.
