MAIN PHASES OF REFORMING RUSSIA'S RAILWAYS APPROVED MOSCOW, March 3. /RIA Novosti correspondent Nadezhda Anisimova/. An inter-departmental working group to prepare a structural reform of railway transport met on Saturday to approve the main phases of the Ministry of Railways (MPS) reform, said the press-service of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry. According to the press-service, discussions covered the state's participation in reforming railway transport and also separation of the natural monopoly and competitive areas of the industry. Besides, the commission defined the general structure of an economic entity to be hived off in the reform process. The working group is to define before long the technical particulars of these proposals, which are to be considered at the commission's next meeting in two weeks' time. Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref, Railways Minister Nikolai Aksyonenko and members of other interested departments and organisations took part in the group's work.
