During a meeting with Federation Council speaker Yegor Stroyev, Czech president Vaclev Havel said that the visit to the Czech republic made by a delegation of senators, which concluded on Friday, testified to a new pace in Russo-Czech relations. Presidential press-secretary Ladsilav Spachek announced that both politicians had agreed upon the fact that the nations' different views in relation to Nato's eastwards expansion should not be a barrier in the way of constructive cooperation between the two countries. According to the press-secretary, Stroyev "believes that the Czech republic will return to its place on the Russian market." The Russian side expressed its willingness to grant significant tax breaks for foreigner investors, including Czechs, in a series of regions.
