GEORGIA DISMISSES REPORTS ABOUT ITS HIDING CHECHEN WARLORD TBILISI, March 1. /From RIA Novosti's David Imedashvili/. The Georgian National Security Ministry has dismissed reports that the Chechen warlord Ruslan Gelayev is presently hiding in Georgia. The ministry's PR have said to this RIA Novosti correspondent that the circulated information is not true. According to Georgian law-enforcement agencies, however, Gelayev is currently staying in Georgia. The Russian paratroop commander, Colonel General Georgy Shpak, confirmed the fact to RIA Novosti on Thursday. He says that other rebel leaders - such as Aslan Maskhadov, Shamil Basayev and Khattab - are now in Chechnya while Basayev's brother, Shervani, is undergoing medical treatment in Turkey. General Shpak says federal forces take all necessary measures to track down the warlords. He hopes those measures will be crowned with success.
