NIGERIA'S PRESIDENT TO VISIT MOSCOW MARCH 5-7 MOSCOW, MARCH 1, 2001, /RIA-NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT/ -- President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria is to visit Moscow March 5-7; that visit will serve the restoration of traditionally friendly ties with the African continent. This was disclosed to reporters here today by Nigeria's Ambassador to Russia Maj.-Gen. Abdulahi Sarki Mukhtar. According to the Nigerian Ambassador, the forthcoming visit is mostly called on to restore all traditionally friendly ties, which had been curtailed after the USSR's disintegration. President Obasanjo and the Russian leadership are going to discuss international issues in the context of African processes. Much attention will be devoted to issues of bilateral trade-and-economic cooperation. It's intended to sign a Russian-Nigerian friendship declaration in the wake of this official visit. Quite a few inter-governmental agreements stipulating technical, scientific, culture and military-technical cooperation will apparently be signed, as well. Their list includes agreements with Russia's Gazprom and LUK-OIL companies on jointly developing oil-and-gas deposits.
