CHECHEN WARLORDS RIVET MOSLEMS' ATTENTION TO CHECHNYA








MOSCOW, MARCH 1, 2001, /FROM A RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT/ -- Chechen warlords are determined to mount a propaganda campaign in order to compel Moslems to look on Chechnya as an outpost of "the world-wide jihad". This was disclosed by an official from the office of Sergei Yastrzhembski, presidential aide.


	According to information available, the separatist leaders are deeply concerned about the fact that the Islamic world has paid ever less attention to their activity.


	In particular, "spiritual leader" of the Chechen separatists Abu Omar hold talks the other day with a representative of the extremist organization "The Muslim Brethren" who is now in a Middle East country.


	The office of the Russian president's aide has information that in the curse of the talks Abu Omar showed his disregard for the fact that a few of the Moslems, who supported Palestinians, had "joined with the Russians against mojaheddin in Chechnya".
