MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED OF ORTHODOXE CHURCHES HAVE ETE DETRUITES OR
ABIMEES WITH THE KOSOVO








BELGRADE, March 6.  / Corr.  RIA " Novosti " Serguei Riabikine /. More
than one hundred of orthodoxe churches and monasteres have ete
completely detruits or seriously damage by Albanian extremists in
Kosovo and this, since the same moment of the introduction of the
multinational Force (KFOR) into this Yugoslav province in June 1999.
RIA " Novosti " has ete informee aupres of it Patriarchate of the Serb
orthodoxe Church has Belgrade.

They undoubtedly are not terrorist acts insulate, but of a destruction
well planifiee of the Serb culture in this Yugoslav province or one
counted, still all recently, more than 1 400 churches and monasteres
orthodoxe, estimates the Patriarchate belgradois.

A spokesman of the Serb orthodoxe Church has well announces the fact
that soldiers and officers of the KFOR did not have yet prevenu same
only once the destruction of the things sacrees of the orthodoxe

this kind of crimes.  Nevertheless, resolution 1244 of the Security

general manager of UNESCO Koichiro Matsuura by exhortant this
international organization has proteger Serb orthodoxe churches and
monasteres in Kosovo.  Belgrade is completely persuades that one will
not be able proteger and to back up the cultural values in Kosovo
without a significant international contest more especially as it is
not a question there of simple local works, but of the monuments
constituting a significant share of the cultural inheritance of
Europe.
