BURYATIA, MONGOLIA HAVE VAST POTENTIAL FOR PARTNERSHIP ULAN-BATOR, MARCH 7, 2001 /from RIA Novosti correspondent Alexander Altman/ -- Buryatia and Mongolia have a vast potential to step up partnership relations and trade and economic contacts, President Leonid Potapov of Buryatia told the press conference on the results of his two-day visit to Ulan-Bator, the capital of Mongolia. According to him, Buryatia and Mongolia have not only common cultural and language roots, but also long-standing traditionally friendly relations conducive to close bilateral cooperation. In the course of his visit Leonid Potapov met with President of Mongolia Natsagiyn Bagabandi and Prime Minister Nambaryn Enkhbayar. Upon the completion of the visit a protocol reflecting a wide range of cooperation was signed in the State Palace of Ulan-Bator and a programme of trade and economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation between Mongolia and the Republic of Buryatia for 2001-2002 adopted. Documents on cooperation in construction and management technologies were also signed. The President of Buryatia visited the Buryatian Trade Centre and took part in the opening ceremony of the first Russian radio station Pulse-Michel. In the Mongolian Industry and Commerce Chamber Mongolian and Buryatian businesspeople discussed possible expansion of economic ties and setting up joint ventures, which will make it possible to enter a new stage of mutually beneficial contacts.
