FIRST EXHIBITION OPENING IN THE NEW BUILDING OF RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS MOSCOW, March 6, 2001 /from RIA Novosti correspondent Yelena Titarenko/ -- An exhibition of pictures and sculptures, devoted to the history of the Russian Academy of Arts, opened in Moscow on Tuesday. In 2007 this Academy will mark its 250th jubilee. The retrospective exhibits have been mounted in the Academy's new building which has been recently completed in the centre of the Russian capital. More than 3,000 works of art from the collections of the country's biggest museums are on display. The visitors will have a chance to enjoy the works by outstanding Russian artists and sculptors of the past centuries and of our time. The organisers of the exhibition believe that the collection of projects and drawings belonging to famous foreign architects who worked in Russia - Francesco Rastrelli, Carlo Rossi and August Montferrand - will arouse a special interest of the visitors.
