PARLIAMENTARY FACTION LEADER ON GOVERNMENT MOSCOW, MARCH 5. /RIA NOVOSTI'S CORRESPONDENT GALINA FILIPPOVA/ -- Gennadi Raikov, leader of the Duma faction People's Deputy (the State Duma is the lower chamber of Russian parliament), thinks it "unrealistic" that the pro-governmental faction Unity raise the question of no confidence in the government. In an interview with RIA Novosti, Raikov said that Unity will then speak of "no confidence in itself". "The faction Unity during one year has been giving 100-percent backing for the present government, unlike our group which has not always been supporting the present government", Raikov said. Gennadi Raikov views the communist no-confidence initiative as an attempt by the KPRF faction "to attempt and politically explode the situation: they find it bad when it is good for everybody". "Today we have stabilisation, which is bad for communists", explained Gennadi Raikov. He reported that he had a consultation with deputies of his association. This consultation shows that the group People's Deputy "will not back the communist initiative of no-confidence for the cabinet because we have no grounds for mistrust in the government". As was reported earlier, one of the leaders of the Duma faction Unity Frants Klintsevich said in an interview with certain media bodies that Unity is going to raise the no-confidence matter. Klintsevich may have voiced his own opinion, said the Unity press service. (nov/kaf)
