RUSSIA AND VIETNAM ARE TO SIGN NEW DOCUMENTS HANOI, March 1, 2001. / RIA Novosti correspondent Marianna Shatikhina /. Apart from the six intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements which have been signed today, Russia and Vietnam will sign several more documents. RIA Novosti was informed of this by Victor Khristenko, chairman of the joint intergovernmental Russian-Vietnamese commission. They include an agreement in the sphere of nuclear power engineering, another one on labour resources, and the third one -- on Russia's participation in the development and implementation of the project for building a VINASAT satellite communications system in Vietnam. Recently, the Russian joint-stock company Gazprom has signed the agreement to prospect for and develop a gas field on a coastal shelf in southern Vietnam. Some 40 million dollars are expected to be invested in this project. Another joint project is the VietRos oil refinery. Its authorised capital is projected in the amount of 800 million dollars. Russia and Vietnam will participate in the project on a parity basis. At the same time, Russia agreed to provide an additional credit for this project in the amount of 100 million dollars.
