RUSSIA AND VIETNAM TO COOPERATE IN SECURITY SPHERE HANOI, MARCH 1, 2001, /from RIA Novosti special correspondent Marianna Shatikhina/ -- Russia and Vietnam are fully resolved to cooperate both on a bilateral and a multilateral basis in combating international terrorism, separatism, religious extremism and transnational crime, which pose a serious threat to the security of sovereign countries, to peace and stability, says the Declaration on Strategic Partnership which Vladimir Putin and Tran Duc Luong, the presidents of the two countries, signed in Hanoi today, reports the RIA Novosti correspondent. In that document Moscow and Hanoi also confirm the topicality of the problem of international information security, as was laid down in UN Security Council resolution 55/28 adopted on November 20, 2000.
