THE PRESIDENTS OF RUSSIA AND IRAN ASSUMED A COMMON ASSERTION OVER THE
KASPI SEA








MOSCOW, 12 March.  (RIA "Nowosti" rIA-"Nowosti"-Korrespondent Oleg
Ossipow).  To the results of the Russian-Iranian negotiations taken
place in Moscow the presidents of the two countries, Vladimir Putin
and Mohammad Khatami assumed, a common assertion over the right status
of the Kaspi sea.

The pages " explain obviously that they reject the transfer of any
transkaspischer oil or natural gas pipelines, which is dangerous under
the conditions of an extremely active geodynamik in ecological regard
".

Russia and Iran explain that the Kaspi sea is to be used excluding for
peaceful purposes.  " operational readiness level of the armed forces
of the nichtkaspischen states on the Kaspi sea is illegal ", is called
it in the document.

In the assertion it is also stated that the Kaspi sea and its
resources are a common property of five coastal states, which possess
exclusive rights to this unique waters.  To the five states belong
Russia, Iran, Aserbaidshan, Turkmenien and Kasachstan.
