RUSSIA BECOMES TO AT THE END OF MARCH WITH THE STEEL TRADE WITH EU FINAL DETERMINING MOSCOW, 11 March. (RIA "Nowosti" rIA-"Nowosti"-Korrespondent). Russia will finally commit itself to at the end of March with the steel trade with the EU. This avowed Maxim Medwedkow, deputy Minister of Trade and economic development of Russia. The consultation between Russia and the EU over the steel trade are constantly led according to it. On 30 March this question on the negotiations in Moscow will be discussed with the European Union commissioner Pascal Lamy. The differences between Russia and EU are connected with the fact that the euro commission decided in this January to extend the 12-Prozent-Quote for the Russian steel on the European market for one year. EU regards this as counter measure opposite Russia, which introduced in the spring 1999 export fee for metal scrap at a value of 15 per cent of the value for customs purposes. In consideration of the limitations Russia can supply 2001 to the EU about 820,000 tons of metal products.
