" KURSK" FUND CALLS INDUSTRIAL NATIONS TO SUPPLY FUNDS FOR ELEVATION "
OF THE KURSK" WRECK

The HAGUE, 1 March (RIA "Nowosti" rIA-"Nowosti"-Korrespondent Andrej
Poskakuchin).  The " Kursk" fund called the heads of the government of
the countries of the European union like also Japan, Canada, Norway
and the USA to supply in each case 1.9 million euro for the elevation
in passed August of the Russian nuclear power-driven submarine " Kursk
sunk ".

From a communique of the fund it follows that thereby half of the
total necessary for the work is collected.  The other half will make
Russia available.  The fund called the heads of state furthermore to
lose no time because the wreck can be lifted in view of the weather
conditions in the space of the Barentssee only in July August.  " if
the boat is not lifted in this year, the operation in the next summer
will be still more dangerous, if it comes, means at all to it more "

Furthermore in the document it is indicated that itself a renowned
western bank explained ready to finance the project for the elevation
of the " Kursk" wreck if the governments of western countries in the
course of the next weeks submit warranty writing " to the Kursk" fund.


The appeal was signed by Alexander Bessmertnych, former minister of
foreign affairs of the Soviet Union, and by Willem van Ekelen, former
chairmen of the Western European union.
