The General Consulate of Russia in New York "makes its utmost" to put off handcuffs from Pavel Borodin, taking into account his post of a high-ranking state official, and give him an opportunity to communicate with the outer world, Pavel Borodin's press secretary Ivan Makushok said. According to him, the state secretary of the Russia-Belarus Union state was placed, in handcuffs, in a single-patient ward of the Lutheran medical centre, which is being guarded by policemen. Makushok recalled that in the Brooklyn prison, where Borodin was kept before being transferred to the hospital on suspicion of having infarction, he had the right to make five telephone calls a day. He, in particular, communicated with his relatives, colleagues in Moscow, lawyers and the general consulate. Makushok reported that the US doctors insist on the full medical examination of Borodin. He is expected to stay in the hospital till the end of the week.
