RUSSIA'S FOREIGN MINISTRY ADDRESSES STATEMENT TO U.S. EMBASSY ON BORODIN AFFAIR MOSCOW, MARCH 13, RIA NOVOSTI - The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed the US Embassy with a statement on the Borodin affair to voice alarm with Pavel Borodin's health. Mr. Borodin has been complaining of headache, laboured breath and weakness--symptoms of cardiac ischemia threatening infarction--since March 10, and was put to hospital yesterday. In this context, the ministry makes a repeated request to bail him off for humanitarian reasons. As the statement points out, Borodin was put to hospital in secrecy, and his lawyers and Russian official representatives were notified and allowed to see the patient only later, after several insistent Russian inquiries. Russia hopes US authorities will not tolerate similar outrages repeated, says the ministry.
