GOVERNMENT HEALTH LIFE CAMPAIGN AS MAIN DRUG-COMBATING EFFORT








MOSCOW, MARCH 13. /RIA NOVOSTI'S CORRESPONDENT ALLA ISAEVA/ -- A health life campaign among young people must be the main way counteract the spread of drug addiction. This conclusion was drawn by participants in a sitting of the governmental commission for combating drug abuse and illegal trafficking.


	Russian Health Minister Yuri Shevchenko reported that the prevention of drug addiction is in focus of the commission's work. It supported the federal purpose programme Physical Education and Improvement of the Health of Children, Adolescents and Young People. The draft has been prepared by the State Sports Committee and the health and education ministries.


	Health Minister Shevchenko believes that the law-enforcement bodies should take drastic measures against drug traffickers. Drug addiction is the curse of the entire world and it has had its impact on Russia too, he said. (nov/nog)
