KRASNOYARSK RESCUERS READY FOR SPRING FLOOD KRASNOYARSK, March 13, 2001. /From RIA Novosti correspondent Boris Ivanov/. Rescuers of the Krasnoyarsk Territory /east Siberia/ intend to use twice as much explosives as last year to eliminate ice jams in river-beds. Head of the Territory administration's Security Council Aleksander Lychkovsky said this. Explosives have already been delivered to the areas around the largest local rivers Angara and Yenisei, where ice jams traditionally lead to flooding of vast territories. Besides, it has been decided where people and domestic animals will be evacuated to, if necessary, until the flood is over. Provisional camps are being built and fuel and food stores prepared. Last year's flood covered numerous settlements in the Yenisei, Turukhansky, Boguchansky and other regions of the Territory, causing enormous damage.
