KARACHAYEVO-CIRCASSIAN VILLAGE CUT OFF FROM THE OUTER WORLD BY A LANDSLIDE MOSCOW, March 13, 2001. /From RIA Novosti correspondent/. A rock that slid down on the Psemen - Pkhiya highway in the North-Caucasian republic of Karachayevo-Circassia on Monday has blocked the road leading to the village of Pkhiya, reports the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. According to the press service, there were no casualties. Luckily the village, which found itself cut off from the outer world, has a substantial food stock and enough fuel for its diesel power plant. The emergencies ministry has dispatched a team of specialists to Karachayevo-Circassia to estimate the amount of explosive work necessary to clear away the landslide, which measures 40 meters long and 7 meters high.
