DANISH FOREIGN MINISTER WELCOMES RUSSIAN PRESIDENT'S IDEA TO CREATE EUROPEAN ANTI-MISSILE DEFENSE SYSTEM MOSCOW, March 12 /from RIA Novosti's Yelena Glushakova/ - Upon his arrival in the capital of Russia, Mogens Lykketoft, Foreign Minister of Denmark, said in a RIA interview that proposals of the Russian President to create a European non-strategic anti-missile defense system must be put on the agenda of negotiations between senior European officials. In the opinion of the Danish minister, "it is very important" that the "Russian President is aware of the threat posed by the military arsenals of certain states" and of "the need to find ways to improve the situation". In reply to a question regarding Copenhagen's stance on the US plans to include an American radar station on the Danish island of Greenland into its NMD system, the minister indicated that "Copenhagen does not feel like discussing the Greenland radar station at this point." In his opinion, "to speak of the radar station in Greenland will be inappropriate until the general situation clears up". The Danish foreign minister has arrived in Moscow for a two-day working visit. His negotiations with Igor Ivanov, head of the Russian foreign ministry, are scheduled for Tuesday. In the course of the forthcoming talks, the sides will focus on issues of strategic security and stability.
