The press center of the Moscow Patriarchate reported today that an Italian Roman Catholic Church delegation granted to the Russian Orthodox Church relics of the of St. Nicholas who is regarded as one of the greatest Christian Saints. he was born approximately in the year 280 in the town of Patara near Myra, in the family of pious Christians. St. Nicolas was known as an exorcist of the demons and the defender of the ill-fated. The saint passed away sometime between the years 345 and 351. In the year 1087 the relics of St. Nicolas were carried solemnly from Myra to Bari, where they remain at the present moment. St. Nicolas the Wonder-worker and Bishop of Myra is one of the most worshipped Saints of Russia.
