BORODIN LAWYERS HOPE TO OBTAIN ALL INFORMATION RELATING TO HIS HEALTH MOSCOW, 12 March, 2001. /RIA Novosti correspondent Mariya Lokotentskaya/. Lawyers acting for Pavel Borodin, Genrikh Padva and Eleonora Sergeyeva, hope to receive shortly missing information concerning the health of the State Secretary for the Belarus-Russia union, who is currently being held in a New York prison. A RIA Novosti correspondent reports that while appearing at a Moscow press-conference today, the lawyers confirmed that Borodin's condition had deteriorated. According to Padva, his client was only permitted to exercise for two hours a day in the open air. The lawyers are concerned that the administration of the Brooklyn detention facility, where Borodin is being held, has refused to furnish them with all the details about Borodin's health. Eleonora Sergeyeva said that this was somewhat suspicious. Moreover, she added that she hoped that Borodin would soon have access not only to the prison doctor, but also a specialist. She said that "I hope this problem will soon be resolved in the coming days." According to the defence team, prison doctors had so far not diagnosed Borodin's condition, as they had not carried out a thorough examination. Nevertheless, the lawyers acknowledged that medical aid had been given to Borodin, although Genrikh Padva said that they had not been given enough accurate information on this matter.
