RUSSIAN-FEDERATION*TATARSTAN*ECONOMY COOPERATION* TATARSTAN TO PURCHASE BUSES FROM MOSCOW REGION, NOT TURKEY KAZAN, March 12, 2001. /From RIA Novosti correspondent Vladimir Shevchuk/. In compliance with the contract signed with the transportation department of Tatarstan, Russia's federation constituent member, located in Povolzhye, the Likino Bus Factory from the Moscow region will deliver 100 new city buses to Kazan by this June. Tatarstan plans to purchase 50 three-door buses for city lines and 50 two-door buses for rural routes, a RIA Novosti correspondent learned from the republican transportation department. Under the contract the bus factory will monthly deliver 25 vehicles. The first batch has been already sent to Tatarstan this month. Of late the republic has been busy purchasing expensive Mercedes makes, assembled in Turkey. Then Tatarstan started to manufacture Karossa buses, purchasing components in Czechia. However, the deal brought low profits.
