SERBIA'S SECURITY FORCES READY TO ENTER BUFFER ZONE ON MACEDONIAN BORDER BELGRADE, MARCH 11, 2001. /RIA NOVOSTI'S SERGEY RYABIKIN/. The KFOR Commander, Lieutenant General Carlo Cabigioso, has confirmed that Serbian and Yugoslav security forces have been allowed to return to the security zone along the Macedonian border so as to exercise their right to defend the country's territorial integrity, said Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Nebojsa Covic following his meeting with the KFOR commander and the NATO secretary-general's envoy, Pieter Feith. The deputy premier promised to report the date of the beginning of this operation in advance, adding that this is really a very dangerous and difficult zone. The leadership is seeking to protect its army and police forces through a deployment period and "to provide safety for all the residents in the region". Nebojsa Covic noted a constructive approach to this problem on the part of the KFOR command. "This means that Yugoslavia and KFOR are becoming ever closer partners," he said.
