OSCE OBSERVERS' RANKS TO SWELL IN MACEDONIA BUCHAREST, March 9. /Gennady Abalov, RIA Novosti Correspondent/. The OSCE is planning to increase the number of observers assigned to the Yugoslav-Macedonian border, acting OSCE Chairman and Romanian Foreign Minister Mircea Geoana announced. He said he had discussed options of cooperation between the OSCE, the EU, and NATO with British top diplomats and military in order to prevent an escalation of violence in the region. "Our proposal, coupled with KFOR's decisive action, would be instrumental in defusing the conflict in southern Serbia and on Macedonian border," the minister believes. He voiced confidence that "there will be no new Balkan war", since substantial peacekeeping forces are deployed in the conflict area and the neighboring nations have democratic governments. Romania's top diplomat was visiting the UK on March 7 to 8.
