OSCE IS CONCERNED WITH ESCALATION OF VIOLENCE BY ALBANIAN EXTREMISTS AT THE BORDER BETWEEN MACEDONIA AND YUGOSLAVIA VIENNA, March 8, 2001. /RIA Novosti correspondent Borislav Pechnikov/. According to the published statement of Mircea Geoana, the Acting OSCE Chairman and Foreign minister of Romania, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is concerned by the armed attacks of Albanian extremists on Macedonia. The said events, emphasizes Geoana, led to a new tragedy. He expressed his deep regret that actions of Albanian separatists resulted in new victims. The Acting OSCE chairman appealed to Macedonian authorities not to lose self-control in their treatment of the emerging situation. He expressed hopes that political approach would prevail in this matter. Geoana stated that he demanded "an immediate seizure of acts of violence and urges all parties that the extremists' activity be isolated within the area of the border between Macedonia and Yugoslavia". The Acting OSCE chairman spoke in support of the necessity to preserve full independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Macedonia.
