ROSTOV NUCLEAR POWER PLANT'S UNIT 1 READY TO GO ON STREAM MOSCOW, MARCH 7, RIA NOVOSTI -- At the Rostov nuclear power plant (Rostov is a city in southern Russia) unit No. 1 is ready to be put into service, RIA Novosti was told at the press service of the Rosenergoatom concern on Wednesday. Tests have proved the service characteristics of the plant's systems and equipment to be fully complying with the designed ones. On March 6, the reactor unit was put into pre-service readiness. The press center recalled that the state-run enterprise Rosenergoatom of the Russian Energy Ministry was established in 1992 and now handles centralised management of eight out of Russia's nine nuclear power stations. They have 25 power units of a total installed capacity of 17,242 megawatts.
