THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS IS SUMMING UP THE RESULTS MOSCOW, March 7, 2001, /from RIA Novosti correspondent Yelizaveta Sviridova/ -- The 565th general meeting of the Russian Academy of Arts, founded in 1757, has opened today in Moscow in the Hall of the Church Assemblies in the Christ the Saviour Cathedral. The participants in the forum will sum up the results of the Academy's work since 1997 and will elect new Members, Corresponding Members and Honorary Members of the Academy. As has become known to the RIA Novosti correspondent, Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov and Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia will become Honorary Members of the Russian Academy of Arts. Apart from that, Gold and Silver Medals of the Academy will be awarded for the best works in art and architecture, and a large group of artistic collectives who took part in reviving the Christ the Saviour Cathedral will also be awarded. -O- (kos/var) 07/03/01 12:52
