FLOWERS ARE BEST PRESENT FOR A WOMAN








MOSCOW, MARCH 7, 2001 /FROM A RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT/ -- What Russian men would like to present their sweethearts and what women dream of--that is the question that sociologists of the All-Russian public opinion poll centre decided to clear up on the eve of the international Women's Day on March 8. 


	


	According to the Centre, flowers naturally ranked first. The opinion poll shows that some 42 percent of men would like to present flowers while 44 percent of ladies would like to be presented with them. Meanwhile, men under 25 are inclined to buy flowers, and half of them are going to. Two thirds of the female pollees under 25 expect this kind of present.


	


	Twenty-two percent of the male pollees intend to present perfumes and cosmetics while 16 percent of ladies would prefer such a gift. Young men enjoy presenting such gifts while mostly middle-aged women like receiving them. 


	


	Some 18 percent of men are going to buy sweets for their beloved to please 11 percent of ladies. This kind of presents is rather characteristic of men under 25 and over 55. Sweets are favoured by ladies over 55.


	


	Jewels stand much lower on the priority list: only four percent of men are willing to present jewellery to their ladies while nine percent of the fair sex would like to receive them.
