RUSSIA AND NIGERIA HAVE SIGNED A PROGRAMME FOR CULTURAL AND SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION MOSCOW, March 6, 2001. /RIA Novosti correspondent/. Vasily Sredin, secretary of state and deputy foreign minister of Russia, and Dele Kole, special adviser to Nigeria's president for international relations, have signed Tuesday a programme for cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries for the 2001-2003 period. According to the Russian foreign ministry's press department, the programme provides for intensifying Russian-Nigerian exchanges in the spheres of science, education, culture, art, cinematography, mass media, book publishing, sports, youth movement and tourism at the federal and regional levels. The programme was signed in the presence of Alexander Dondukov, Russian minister of industry, science and technologies, and Sule Lamido, Nigerian foreign minister. Dele Kole is in Moscow within the framework of the Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo's official visit to Russia.
